Hamelin da più di dieci anni si occupa di pedagogia della lettura, letteratura per ragazzi, illustrazione e fumetto, operando in tutto il territorio nazionale. Tra le attività, particolare rilievo hanno conferenze e corsi di aggiornamento per bibliotecari e insegnanti; attività di promozione della lettura per bambini e ragazzi, con una particolare attenzione al pubblico adolescenziale grazie al progetto Xanadu. Comunità per giovani lettori; ideazione e realizzazione di proposte culturali come cicli di incontri con autori, mostre, convegni.
Tutte queste attività trovano un ideale prolungamento teorico nella rivista Hamelin. Storie figure pedagogia che propone saggi e una sezione didattica, oltre allo spazio dedicato ad una “pedagogia del visivo”.
BilBolbul è il nome che ha dato l’identità a tutte le iniziative dell’associazione legate al mondo del fumetto con la volontà di divulgare il più possibile una conoscenza dell’arte dei comics. Nei cinque anni precedenti si sono organizzati lezioni di storia del fumetto, incontri con autori, tavole rotonde, mostre accanto alle quali, data la natura pedagogica dell’Associazione, si sono proposte attività con i ragazzi delle scuole medie e superiori. Questa attività ha portato anche alla cura del portale del Comune di Bologna Flashfumetto, che in poco più di un anno è diventato un utile punto di riferimento per chi si interessa del settore sia come professionista, sia come appassionato.
